Elephant Songs

Another “song” from my elephant YA novel. This one’s meant sung to an original tune by the elephants in my novel.

(chanted in a perfect fourth)
March ahead, march ahead, ….

Step by step.
Mile by mile.
We make our way along trails in style.

Hill and glade.
Stream and wood
We travel on to a place so good.

(chorus)
To the gathering!
To the gathering!
Six clans meet at waters so sweet.

To the gathering!
To the gathering!
For this five-year event the call’s been sent.

Up the trail.
Down the slope.
To meet with old friends and some new I hope.

Who we’ll see.
I cannot say.
It’s far away but new games we’ll play.

To the gathering!
To the gathering!
Six clans meet at waters so sweet.

To the gathering!
To the gathering!
For this five-year event the call’s been sent.

River fast.
Speed my feet.
Excitement’s ahead but we pause to eat.

Rock and ford.
Step here strong.
The journey goes fast with good friends along.

To the gathering!
To the gathering!
Six clans meet at waters so sweet.

To the gathering!
To the gathering!
For this five-year event the call’s been sent.
